In the Khawa Men’s Volleyball League held in Islamabad, Pakistan, Nepal lost all six matches they participated in and finished at the bottom of the standings. In the match for fifth place, Kazakhstan defeated Nepal in straight sets with scores of 25-18, 27-25, and 25-20. Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka secured the top four spots and advanced to the semifinals.
Nepal was unable to secure a single victory during the league phase and also lost the fifth-place playoff against Kazakhstan on Tuesday. The first set of the match, held at Lyakat Gymnasium, was dominated by Kazakhstan with a 25-18 win. The second set was more competitive, but Kazakhstan edged out Nepal 27-25 in a tiebreak. Kazakhstan closed out the match by winning the third set 25-20, securing fifth place.
During the league phase, Nepal played five matches, losing three of them in five-set battles, which earned them 3 points. They pushed Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh to five sets but lost, while suffering straight-set defeats against Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Nepal’s participation in the tournament was based on an agreement recognizing the FIVB ranking system, but failing to advance to the semifinals meant the team could not achieve its goal of winning a medal.
