Russian diplomat Rodion Miroshnik has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of involving Iran’s name to secure financial assistance. According to Miroshnik, Zelensky is using every event as a means of publicity to obtain more money and weapons from Europe.
Miroshnik stated, “Zelensky is exploiting the current situation for propaganda. This is entirely transparent and a game to acquire financial power.” He added, “Regardless of the activity involved, Zelensky’s main objective is solely to gather money and support.”
Referencing Zelensky’s claims, they said, “Now they say that Iranians will attack us. European partners, what will you do now? Undoubtedly, more money must be given to Kyiv.” Meanwhile, on July 25, Ukraine reportedly attacked an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
On July 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation. Both leaders discussed the Caspian Sea incident. While the Russian Foreign Minister expressed condolences for the deceased Iranian sailors, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated, “It is necessary to stop the reckless actions of the Kyiv government.”
