Nepal Suffers Fourth Consecutive Defeat Against Netherlands, Chances of Reaching Top 4 Fade

In an ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 match held in the Netherlands, Nepal was defeated by the Netherlands by 57 runs. This loss marks Nepal’s fourth consecutive defeat in the series, significantly diminishing their chances of finishing in the top 4 in League 2. Chasing a target of 226 runs against the Netherlands, Nepal was bowled out for 168 runs in 48 overs. Asif Sheikh was the top scorer for Nepal with 38 runs, while captain Rohit Paudel contributed 26 and Karan KC made 23 runs. After opener Kushal Bhurtel was dismissed for a duck, Nepal struggled to build partnerships and lost wickets regularly. At 50 runs, they had lost 3 wickets. Rohit and Asif put on a 35-run partnership, but wickets continued to fall thereafter.

For the Netherlands, Kyle Klein took 3 wickets, while Rolf van der Merwe, Jach Lyon Cassett, and Logan van Beek each claimed 2 wickets. The Netherlands scored 225 runs for 9 wickets in their 50 overs, with Noah Croes scoring the highest with 70 runs. Nepal still has series games remaining against Oman and Canada. However, if Oman wins even one of its remaining eight matches, Nepal will be unable to secure a top 4 finish.
