The recovery process for outstanding electric pole rental fees by Nepal Electricity Authority has formally commenced following payment advances made by Worldlink Communications. Worldlink has paid the remaining outstanding amount after tax deductions based on self-declaration and joint certification. Energy Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha highlighted that service providers are obligated to pay fees as mandated by law and described this step as a positive beginning. Kathmandu, 14th Shrawan.
The long-paused collection process for Nepal Electricity Authority’s electric pole rental fees has now started. Internet service provider Worldlink Communications initiated the payment process for the pole rental dues through the Distribution and Customer Services Directorate and Bagmati Province Divisional Office of the Electricity Authority. The payment advance follows tax deductions calculated on the basis of self-declaration for fiscal year 2082/83.
The company reported that it adjusted payments after reconciling records with joint certifications of poles and DB boxes for the fiscal year 2081/82, including corrections for any previously double payments, and then settled the remaining balance. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha emphasized that all service providers utilizing state infrastructure must fulfill their responsibility to pay fees timely in accordance with the law. He welcomed Worldlink’s initiation of the payment process as a positive start and expressed optimism that other service providers will fulfill their obligations as well.
The minister noted the government’s commitment to the rule of law and impartial application of legislation, assuring that any issues encountered during implementation will be resolved within legal boundaries. He warned against unnecessary political influence or attempts to create confusion during law enforcement, stressing the government’s policy to apply laws equally to all.
