Polish star forward Robert Lewandowski scored his first goals in Major League Soccer (MLS), contributing two crucial goals to help Chicago Fire FC defeat Charlotte FC 2–1 at home. Despite Charlotte taking the lead in the 18th minute, Lewandowski’s brace earned the team three vital points.
Kathmandu, August 3 – In Saturday night’s match, Robert Lewandowski’s two goals powered Chicago Fire FC to a 2–1 victory over Charlotte FC. This marked his first appearance on home ground. At the 18th minute, Pep Biel opened the scoring for Charlotte, putting them ahead. However, just 93 seconds later, Chicago leveled the score. Jonathan Bamba’s cross was passed to Lewandowski by Philipp Zinckernagel, who then struck a superb shot from outside the box to net his first MLS goal.
Lewandowski secured his second goal in the 68th minute. After more than 25 passes exchanged, Andrew Gutman’s cross was connected by Robin Lod, setting up Lewandowski to execute a chip shot inside the penalty area that found the back of the net. This double marked Lewandowski’s first brace in MLS, and with these decisive goals, Chicago secured all three points.
