The Chamber has now fully constituted three more subject committees, adding to the eight that were previously established. Currently, 25 different committees are active within the Chamber. According to the recent decision, the committees for Banking, Finance and Insurance (chaired by Hemant Golchha), Trade Fair (chaired by Sabin Shrestha), and Tourism and Air Transportation (chaired by Sangharsha Bista) have been expanded and formally constituted. At the event held at the Chamber Secretariat in Teku, appointment letters were distributed to vice-chairpersons, members, and advisors of various committees.
While handing over the appointment letters, Acting President Surkrishna Vaidya emphasized that these committees serve as a crucial mechanism for identifying the problems, opportunities, and requirements of the private sector. He urged them to conduct in-depth research on sector-specific issues and policy matters and to present these findings effectively to the government. “The active role of these subject committees strengthens the private sector and forms the foundation of the country’s economic prosperity,” Vaidya stated.
Nareshlal Shrestha, the Chamber’s General Vice President, noted that these committees are vital for the effective implementation of the Chamber’s policies and programs. He encouraged committee members to closely engage with businesspeople and entrepreneurs in their respective sectors to understand problems and initiate solutions. He also highlighted the importance of coordination between the private sector, government, and relevant stakeholders in identifying and resolving issues. On this occasion, Hemant Golchha, chairperson of the Banking, Finance and Insurance Committee, stated that the committee will remain active in ensuring easier banking access, interest rate stability, liquidity management, and private sector-friendly policy development.
