To address the shortage of skilled labor in the infrastructure sector, the government has decided to establish a new company in partnership with the private sector. The company will have 70 percent investment from the private sector and 30 percent from the government, according to Ministers Sunil Lamsal and Ramji Yadav. A government plan is also in place to set a minimum daily wage of one thousand rupees for workers and to tackle unemployment by producing manpower within the country.
Kathmandu, 21 Shrawan – Considering the deficit of skilled workers needed in the infrastructure sector, the government is preparing a special initiative to resolve this issue. A new company will be formed with the participation of construction entrepreneurs. During a discussion on Thursday with the leadership of the Nepal Construction Entrepreneurs Federation, including its President Nicholas Pandey, Ministers Lamsal and Yadav informed that the company’s investment will be 70 percent from the private sector and 30 percent from the government.
In the same meeting, a decision was made to form a committee chaired by representatives from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development to advance the company’s establishment process. It was also agreed that the Nepal Construction Entrepreneurs Federation will provide accurate data on the manpower needs of the country’s infrastructure sector. Ministers Lamsal and Yadav expressed their belief that preparing the required workforce domestically will help mitigate the increasing unemployment problem.
