The Nepal Police have arrested Tilak, a central secretariat member of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Majority, from Dang. The party spokesperson, Deepak, condemned the arrest as unjustified and demanded Tilak’s immediate and respectful release. Tilak, a central secretariat member of the NCP Majority led by Dharmendra Bastola, resides in Dang. According to party spokesperson Deepak, he was arrested by Nepal Police on the evening of 21 Saun. The party expressed strong objection to the arrest, citing that it was made without any reason and without notifying his family.
According to the party’s allegations, since the formation of the current government, leaders have faced arrests as retaliation for protesting issues such as the operation of bulldozers in Sukrumbasi settlements, the Prime Minister’s statements against the country in Parliament, and price hikes. The NCP Majority has demanded that the arrested leader Tilak be released immediately and with dignity.
