Kathmandu, August 9 – Modi informed about his phone dialogue with Harris, highlighting discussions on deepening India-US bilateral relations. He also congratulated Vice President Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, on the birth of their son. Modi stated, “Had a phone conversation with US Vice President Kamala Harris. We discussed ways to deepen the broad strategic partnership between India and the US across key sectors.”
Vice President Harris previously noted on Saturday that the US is working to guarantee the safe transit of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. She stated that talks with Iran include commitments not to attack commercial shipping to ensure uninterrupted oil flow. Meanwhile, the US Senate passed legislation imposing stricter economic pressures on countries buying Russian oil and gas, potentially exposing India and China to additional US taxes.
