The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has appointed Sandeep Lamichhane as the captain of the Nepal national cricket team in the One Day International (ODI) format. CAN made the decision to replace Rohit Paudel with Sandeep as the new captain. Sandeep Lamichhane will now lead the Nepali team in ODI cricket. Kathmandu, 25th Saun.
Leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been named captain of the Nepal ODI cricket team. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) removed Rohit Paudel from the position and appointed Sandeep as ODI captain. This marks Sandeep’s return to captaincy after four years. He had been appointed captain in 2022 but was removed following allegations of sexual assault. Sandeep will lead Nepal as captain in the upcoming ACC Premier Cup scheduled to be held in Malaysia.
The team under Sandeep’s captaincy includes Asif Sheikh, Arjun Kumal, Rohit Paudel, Dev Khanal, Dipendra Singh Airee, Sandeep Jora, Basir Ahmad, Ishan Pandey, Gulshan Jha, Sher Malla, Lalit Rajbanshi, Karan KC, and Hemant Thami. The captaincy change follows Nepal’s poor performance in the ICC World Cup League 2. Consequently, Rohit Paudel has lost captaincy of both ODI and T20 teams. Earlier, CAN had appointed Dipendra Singh Airee as the T20 captain.
