Former US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he secretly changed planes after the NATO summit in Turkey last month upon sensing a potential threat. “I act on the advice of the Secret Service and the military. They told me to board a different flight and plane,” Trump told reporters.
Earlier, The Washington Post reported that Trump had covertly switched planes and had hidden for some time inside a catering truck during the process. According to that report, due to a threat from Iran, he was discreetly moved from Air Force One to another aircraft operated by the US military.
Journalists and White House staff aboard Air Force One were unaware of Trump’s transfer to another plane. US officials told a media outlet that the country became alert after detecting a “credible” missile threat from Iran.
In Ankara, Trump stated that he was Iran’s “primary target.” The day after attempts to end the conflict between Washington and Tehran failed and US forces resumed attacks on Iran, Trump returned from Ankara.
