A significant amount of trash has accumulated in a river located in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. This situation emerged following prolonged heavy rainfall over an extended period. The tropical storm further complicated the conditions, bringing rainfall equivalent to about one month’s worth over nine days. During this time, local schools were also closed.
Authorities have reported that various disasters caused by the rains have led to at least 26 fatalities in the Philippines over the past few weeks.
