The match, held Thursday night at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Austria, saw PSG secure a 2–1 victory over Villa. Champions League winner PSG took the lead in the 20th minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored.
Aston Villa’s 17-year-old Brian Majjo equalized near the end of the first half. Majjo scored with a volley off a cross from John McGinn, becoming the youngest goal scorer in Super Cup history.
However, in the 62nd minute, Dusan Vlahovic scored to restore PSG’s lead. The goal was reviewed by VAR for a possible offside, but after confirmation, it stood, allowing PSG to maintain their advantage and win the title.
Although Majjo delivered an outstanding performance for Aston Villa, his goal was insufficient to secure the trophy. Villa created several good chances throughout the match, but PSG goalkeeper Matteo Safonov made effective saves to deny them.
Aston Villa had won the Europa League title last May, whereas PSG earned their spot in the Super Cup by claiming the Champions League last season.
