Susmita Thapamagar Becomes First Nepali Woman Fighter to Secure Victory in Professional MMA

Susmita Thapamagar has made history as the first Nepali female athlete to win a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) bout. She claimed her inaugural victory at the Ronin FC 3 competition held in Bengaluru, India, by defeating Shalu Sharma of India in her debut match. Reflecting on her success, she stated, “I am very happy to secure a win in my debut fight; this is just the beginning.”

On August 15th, in Kathmandu, the Nepali fighter Susmita Thapamagar etched her name into history by becoming the first Nepali female athlete to achieve a win in professional MMA. During the nighttime event of Ronin FC 3 in Bengaluru, India, she defeated Indian competitor Shalu Sharma, recording her first professional MMA victory.

Susmita succeeded in winning her debut professional MMA fight, making her the first Nepali woman to achieve this milestone. She expressed, “I am extremely happy to win in my very first fight. This is just the initial stage, and I have much more to accomplish.”

A fighter from Gandaki Province, Susmita has previously demonstrated her skills in taekwondo, kickboxing, and Muay Thai, and she has now made a remarkable start in professional MMA as well.
