Santoshi Shrestha of Nepal secured the bronze medal in the women’s 5000 meters at the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver 2026 held on Saturday in Bhubaneswar, India. She completed the distance in 17 minutes and 31.75 seconds to claim the podium finish. The gold medal went to Kenya’s Diana Wanjala, while India’s Bharti earned silver. Wanjala finished in 15 minutes 16.11 seconds, and Bharti completed the race in 15 minutes 46.45 seconds.
In October last year, Santoshi set a new national record at the South Asian Athletics Championship in Ranchi, clocking 16 minutes 36.61 seconds. Currently preparing for the upcoming 20th Asian Games in Japan, Santoshi made history by winning a medal at a World Athletics silver-level event. She holds national records in women’s athletics for the marathon, half marathon, 10,000 meters, 5,000 meters, and 1500 meters events.
