‘The Former King Has Extended His Blessings; We Are Preparing to Participate in Local Elections’

September 23, Kathmandu – Dr. Dhawal Shamsher Jabara, who recently parted ways with the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) to embark on a new political journey, has held talks with former King Gyanendra Shah. Jabara informed that the meeting encompassed discussions on topical matters.

In an interview, Jabara said the meeting with former King Gyanendra after a long interval involved extensive dialogue regarding the country’s current situation and political activities.

He added that the former king blessed everyone to move forward together unitedly during their conversation.

Encouraged after meeting the former king, Jabara announced his plan to spread the organization nationwide and participate in the next local elections.

Today, in a brief conversation, Jabara, who has established the ‘Jai Nepal Party’ after leaving RPP, shared the following –

When did your meeting with former King Gyanendra Shah take place?

The meeting occurred last evening.

Where did the meeting happen?

It took place at Solti Hotel during an event organized by the Himani Trust.

What topics were discussed during the meeting?

We discussed contemporary issues, particularly focusing on the country’s political and social conditions. The current national scenario was a key part of our conversation.

How long did the discussion last?

Since it was our first meeting after a long time, our discussion was lengthy. I also shared our party’s decision to create public opinion in favor of the monarchy and Hindu kingdom.

The former king is concerned about the nation’s state. His positive mindset is that the country should progress and all Nepali citizens should be prosperous.

What was the former king’s response?

He said, ‘Okay, keep doing what you are doing and do it well. Move ahead by bringing everyone together.’

What was his main concern?

He is worried about the country’s condition. His positive outlook desires national progress and happiness for all Nepali people. He is interested in what is happening in the country, what we are doing, and how we are moving forward.

You attempted to collaborate with Durga Prasai after leaving RPP, but after talks failed, you formed a separate party? What happened there?

Nothing significant to report. I informed him about my actions. I no longer have any connection with RPP as I have left the party. When I mentioned failing talks with Durga Prasai, he just smiled without making any further comments.

How did the former king advise you to proceed politically?

He emphasized that the progress shouldn’t be led by a single individual but should include everyone. His positive view is to unite all ethnicities, cultures, and communities and move forward collectively.

The former king does not speak negatively about others. He wishes to advance by embracing all religions, cultures, and communities. Negative remarks are not part of his disposition.

How do you assess the current government’s performance?

The expectations people had from this government are gradually diminishing. Despite many promises, the government appears to be retreating in the middle of its term. It has failed to deliver—whether due to inexperience or other reasons, we see its shortcomings.

Having been elected at the local level myself, I can say many tasks can be accomplished through local governance. Essential public service is more effective from the local government level. Therefore, we plan to prioritize local governance.

Government leaders continue on their own paths and rarely consult with others.

What advice would you offer if consulted?

Anyone who wishes to serve the country’s interest well must move ahead positively. I am a positive person; however, I do not usually give unsolicited advice.

What are your party’s immediate priorities and programs?

Our primary focus is expanding the organization nationwide. We have decided to form interim district committees in all 77 districts by mid-September to October, along with departments and committees for youth, women, and various community groups.

Furthermore, we intend to bring in individuals with a clean image, integrity, and commitment to work at the local level as candidates for upcoming local elections. We welcome such candidates to join our party.

Based on my experience as an elected local official, I affirm that much can be achieved through local bodies. We will prioritize local governance to make public service effective.

Absolutely. We are fully preparing to participate in the local elections, aiming to expand organizations nationwide and present honest candidates with clean reputations.
