August 24, Kathmandu – Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir arrived in Tehran, the capital of Iran, on Monday. According to the Pakistan Army’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Munir’s visit aims to discuss the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran. The Pakistan Army described this trip as part of Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and stability and to seek a peaceful resolution to the dispute.
During his stay in Tehran, Munir is scheduled to hold important meetings with top Iranian leaders. This marks Munir’s fourth visit to Tehran within the past six months. Pakistan has been playing a mediating role to prevent escalation in the current conflict between the US and Iran. Under Pakistan’s mediation, both countries had signed the Islamabad Agreement. However, tensions have recently intensified again over the status of the Strait of Hormuz.
