The 14th South Asian Games are scheduled to take place in Pakistan from April 3 to April 11, the Nepal Olympic Committee announced at a press conference on Wednesday. The event will feature 28 sports, with an estimated participation of 4,191 athletes and officials according to the preliminary list. Under the chairmanship of Nepal Olympic Committee President Jeevan Ram Shrestha, the South Asia Olympic Council Coordination Committee has been formed for the first time.
The 14th South Asian Games will include 28 sports, 25 of which will have competitions for both men and women, while 3 sports will be exclusively for men. The sports featured at the 14th SAG are athletics, aquatics (swimming), archery, badminton, basketball, billiards, boxing, cricket, football, golf, handball, hockey, kabaddi, karate, rowing, rugby, shooting, squash, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, triathlon, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, and wushu.
A total of 1,207 medals will be awarded at the Games, including 346 gold, 346 silver, and 515 bronze medals. The participant count is projected to include 3,172 athletes along with 1,019 officials, totaling 4,191 individuals. Pakistan will host the Games across three cities.
The opening ceremony is slated to be held at Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad, which has a seating capacity of approximately 50,000 spectators. According to President Shrestha, India has confirmed participation virtually, and all member countries are expected to take part.
