14 Bhadra, Sankhuwasabha – Five workers employed at a hydropower project were injured when lightning struck in Makalu Rural Municipality-2 of Sankhuwasabha. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Sunday evening. The district police office of Sankhuwasabha reported that the lightning struck while the workers were inside the tunnel of Kasuwa Khola Hydropower.
The injured have been identified as 20-year-old Suman Ghartimagar from Dhorpatan Rural Municipality-8, Baglung; 49-year-old Dalbahadur Dhungel from Shuklaphanta Municipality-9, Kanchanpur; 36-year-old Prahlad Dhungel from Manthali Municipality-8, Ramechhap; 25-year-old Prakash Pahari; and 30-year-old Bernasingh Chaudhary from Shantinagar Municipality-6, Dang, the police confirmed.
They were immediately rescued and received primary treatment at a local health facility before being transferred to the district hospital in Sankhuwasabha for further medical care.
