US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has announced his resignation after serving approximately 18 months in his position. According to CBS, Driscoll had been at odds with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for several months. Since taking charge of the Pentagon, Hegseth has removed more than a dozen senior military officers from their posts. Kathmandu, September 2.
Driscoll is the youngest Army Secretary to date and is often referred to as President Donald Trump’s ‘drone man.’ In a statement to CBS, the White House described Driscoll as exceptionally effective in advancing Trump’s agenda to ‘Make America Stronger Again,’ praising his leadership in military operations as ‘outstanding.’
Among the recently departed senior military officials, Driscoll is the newest to leave. Previously, Navy Secretary John Fellen abruptly resigned in April. Similarly, Army Chief Randy George, General David Hodne, and Major General William Green have also been recently removed from their positions. Since taking leadership, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has dismissed over a dozen senior military officers.
