Central Bank Directs Easy Financial Services for Flood-Affected Customers in Rasuwa

Nepal Rastra Bank has instructed banks and financial institutions to provide services to customers in Rasuwa who lost their documents due to floods using signature samples, photographs, and other details. The central bank has issued directives to ensure financial service accessibility for flood-affected customers even if their checks, cards, mobile phones, or documents have been lost.
Microfinance branches and offices in the flood-affected areas are now allowed to resume operations without prior approval and may relocate or adjust branch locations as needed. Kathmandu, September 1. Nepal Rastra Bank has specified guidelines for banks and financial institutions to verify customer signatures and photos to provide financial services.
Thousands of families have been impacted by the Rasuwa floods. To facilitate easy access for affected bank customers, the central bank has mandated verification based on signature samples, photographs, and other details to facilitate transactions. Customers who have lost checks, cards, mobile devices, and other documents due to the floods must be identified through existing signature and photo records so that financial services can be extended promptly.
Additionally, microfinance institutions in the flood-affected areas may resume services without prior approval. These institutions are also permitted to relocate bank branches or adjust to a nearby branch. Following any branch relocation or adjustment, the central bank must be notified within seven days.
