September 5, Kathmandu – Giorgia Meloni has become Italy’s longest-serving prime minister since World War II. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated her on this achievement. Modi wrote on the social media platform X, “Heartfelt congratulations to my friend and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for becoming the longest-serving prime minister consecutively since World War II. This accomplishment confirms the trust and confidence that the people of Italy have in her leadership.”
Modi also emphasized Meloni’s crucial role in strengthening the special strategic partnership between India and Italy. “I look forward to continuing to work with her for the well-being and prosperous future of the people of both countries,” Modi said, extending his best wishes for her continued success in the years to come.
Earlier, Meloni expressed her delight on X about her government becoming the longest-serving in the history of the Italian Republic. “Today, our government has become the longest-serving government in the history of the Italian Republic,” she wrote. She noted that she welcomed this milestone with deep emotion. “Stability is not a record to flaunt,” she added, “It is a condition that helps a country to plan, take decisions, fulfill promises, and earn respect.”
