September 7, Kathmandu – The volcanic eruption of Anak Krakatau in Indonesia has caused ash fallout that disrupted flights at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation has reported that a total of 209 flights, including international routes, have been affected and delayed due to the ash.
The volcanic activity began on Friday night, and the ash has spread to Lampung in Sumatra and Banten in Java provinces, negatively impacting daily life there. Several schools have been closed, and fishing operations have been suspended as a result of the ashfall. The disaster management authority has stated that there is currently no tsunami threat.
