Suraj Tamang Arrested After Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison for Assault Causing Injury

Suraj Tamang, also known as Saroj Tamang, a 33-year-old from Nuwakot, who was sentenced to two years in prison for assault causing bodily harm, has been arrested. The arrest was made by a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office. On April 20, 2021, the Kathmandu District Court sentenced him to two years imprisonment, a fine of 20,000 NPR, and required him to deposit 800 NPR to the victim relief fund.

After the Patan High Court upheld the district court’s verdict on June 3, 2021, Suraj Tamang absconded. Following the court order, he has now been taken into custody and handed over to prison for execution of the sentence. After being declared guilty, he was arrested and sent to prison to serve the sentence.
