September 8, Kathmandu – A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck near Lomanthang in Mustang district. According to Lokvijay Adhikari, Chief of the Earthquake Measurement Center, the tremor was felt at 9:53 PM on Tuesday night.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 35 kilometers underground. The tremors were felt across regions ranging from Tibet to Mustang, Baglung, the Dhaulagiri range, and various parts of Nepal.
So far, no reports of damage or casualties have been released. Recently, the Himalayan areas have faced increased risks of disasters such as landslides, glacial lake outburst floods, and flooding in conjunction with earthquakes.
