Nepal will compete against Oman in the semifinal of the ACC Premier Cup, currently underway in Malaysia, on Thursday morning at 7:15 AM local time. Nepal secured their spot as the winner of Group ‘A’, while Oman advanced as the runner-up of Group ‘B’. The match will be held at the Bayuemas Cricket Oval in Malaysia.
Despite Nepal’s loss to Hong Kong in the final group stage match on Tuesday, they retained the top position in Group ‘A’. Oman, although finishing behind UAE and Kuwait, qualified as the second team in Group ‘B’. During the group stages, Nepal defeated Bahrain, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia but fell to Hong Kong in their last game. Nonetheless, Nepal was declared the group winner.
The runner-up of Group ‘A’, Hong Kong, will face the winner of Group ‘B’, UAE, in the other semifinal scheduled for Thursday. The team that wins the tournament will qualify for the ACC Asia Cup. Moreover, the two finalists and the third-place team will secure qualification for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup. Teams that do not reach the final will compete for third place, with the winner also earning a spot in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
