Khadad Falcons Finish NBL Winless; Karnali and Kathmandu to Clash in Final Playoff

September 11, Kathmandu – Khadad Falcons Sudurpashchim concluded the inaugural Nepal Volleyball League (NBL) season without a single win.

In the league’s final match on Thursday, Khadad put up a strong fight but ultimately fell 3-2 in sets to Kathmandu Reds.

Although they lost all five league games, Khadad managed to take sets off Kathmandu for the first time this season and secured 1 point despite the close five-set match.

Kathmandu initially rested their foreign players and fielded only Nepali players, but Khadad’s impressive challenge prompted Kathmandu to bring in their foreign players to ensure the victory.

Khadad took the opening set 25-19 to take the lead. Kathmandu leveled the match by winning the second set 25-19. Khadad regained the lead by winning the third set 25-20, but Kathmandu bounced back to win the next two sets. Kathmandu took the fourth set 25-19 to force a decisive fifth set, which they narrowly won 15-13.

Kathmandu, having won 4 of their 5 league games, secured third place with 10 points. They will now face Karnali Shivraj on Friday in a playoff to earn a place in the final. On Thursday, Karnali defeated Madhesh Warriors 3-1 in sets and currently hold second place with 11 points.

Karnali defeated Madhesh with set scores of 25-20, 25-20, 21-25, and 25-19.

Despite losing to Karnali in the opening match, Annapurna Spiker Kings rebounded to win four consecutive games, leading the table with 12 points and have already secured a direct spot in the final.

The NBL playoff between Karnali and Kathmandu to enter the final will be held on Friday. The winner will face Annapurna Spiker Kings in the final on Saturday.
