Bilateral Meeting Between Indian Prime Minister Modi and Russian President Putin

On Friday in New Delhi, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting took place on the occasion of the BRICS Summit 2026. During the session, Prime Minister Modi presented President Putin with a Russian translation of the famous ancient Tamil text, the ‘Tirukkural,’ as a gift. This classic work was authored by the renowned Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar.
Prior to the meeting, President Putin arrived at the India Pavilion, where he met with Prime Minister Modi. Attending the BRICS Summit in India are also Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, both of whom have come to New Delhi. On Friday evening, a bilateral meeting is scheduled between Prime Minister Modi and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi as well.
