Chudamani Paudel, Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Sports, has decided not to travel to Japan for the 20th Asian Games. He stated that the decision was made with the intention of reallocating the funds towards assisting those affected by recent disasters.
Previously, Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel and Ramcharitra Mehta, Secretary of the National Sports Council (Rakhap), also chose not to attend the event in Japan. Initially, Secretary Paudel was included in the list of attendees for the Japan trip, but given the current challenging circumstances, he preferred to use the resources intended for travel to support disaster-affected individuals rather than participating in the Asian Games.
