New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra suffered a right shoulder injury while taking a diving catch during a promotional shoot in Auckland. He landed awkwardly on a safety mat while attempting the catch, leading to an initial assessment of his condition. On Friday, specialist medical examination confirmed that there is no significant structural damage to his shoulder.
New Zealand Cricket stated that Ravindra’s return to the field will depend on his health progress during the early weeks of rehabilitation. It remains uncertain whether he will participate in the five-match T20 International series against India commencing October 22.
Performance Manager Mike Sandel described Ravindra’s injury as unfortunate and emphasized the focus on his rehabilitation to ensure a swift return to the field. Head coach Rob Walter also indicated that the team is not in favor of rushing Ravindra back prematurely.
Given the upcoming demanding Test cricket schedule over the next six months, Ravindra will be given the necessary time for full recovery. The India series includes five T20 Internationals from October 22 to November 1, followed by five One Day Internationals and two Test matches in November.
