
Nepalese karate athlete Erika Gurung was unable to secure a medal in the women’s over 68 kg bronze medal match at the ongoing 20th Asian Games in Japan, losing narrowly with a score of 8–7. Despite leading 7–5 earlier, Erika conceded three points in the final moments, missing out on a podium finish. Earlier, Nepalese male kumite competitors Min Bahadur Tamang and Rakesh Manandhar also lost their bronze medal contests. 4th Ashoj, Kathmandu.
At the 20th Asian Games currently underway in Japan, Nepal’s karate player Erika Gurung failed to claim a medal. In the competition for the bronze medal in the women’s over 68 kg weight category, Erika lost 8–7 to Dina Ahmed Mustafa Al-Saudi from Saudi Arabia. Holding a 7–5 lead during the match, Erika lost three points at the end, resulting in a medalless finish. Previously, Erika had won a silver medal at the 19th Asian Games. Prior to this, Nepalese male kumite athletes Min Bahadur Tamang and Rakesh Manandhar also lost in their respective bronze medal bouts.
