Five Militants Killed and 23 Hostages Rescued in Security Operation Near Kalat, Pakistan

In a security operation near Kalat, Balochistan, five militants were killed and 23 abducted civilians rescued. The militants had illegally established a checkpoint on Pakistan Highway (N-25) to kidnap travelers, demand ransom, and seize vehicles. Authorities recovered six trucks, three buses, two cars, along with a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives during the operation.

October 5, Islamabad – Security forces conducted an operation in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, resulting in five militants being killed and 23 abducted civilians rescued. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army’s communications wing, on Friday night near Kalat, militants attempted to establish an illegal checkpoint on the Pakistan Highway (N-25) to abduct passengers, collect ransom, and take control of vehicles.

Upon learning of the militants’ activities, security forces launched an immediate operation during which a firefight ensued, killing five militants. Subsequently, the forces raided a militants’ hideout, safely rescuing the 23 abducted civilians. The operation also led to the recovery of six trucks, three buses, and two cars that had been seized by the militants. Additionally, significant quantities of weapons, ammunition, and explosives were found. According to the army, efforts to search for other militants and maintain security throughout the region are ongoing. Given the strategic importance of the national highway, security forces are continuously conducting surveillance and search operations to ensure the safety of local residents and travelers and to secure transportation routes.
