Footballer Mohamed Salah has been banned from driving for six months due to failing to disclose the identity of the driver. On March 27, a speed camera in Wilmslow, Cheshire, recorded Salah’s Rolls-Royce traveling at 36 mph (approximately 58 km/h) in a 30 mph speed zone. According to court documents, when the police requested the identity of the person driving the vehicle, the 34-year-old Salah did not provide any information or statements related to the prosecution.
At a hearing in Warrington Joint Court, Salah was ordered to pay a fine of £1,044 alongside a six-month driving ban. A court spokesperson stated that the case was handled under the ‘Single Justice Procedure,’ where a magistrate makes a private decision without a public hearing. Salah was found guilty of failing to identify the driver of the vehicle. This incident occurred just days after Salah announced his departure from Liverpool, where he had spent nine years. He declared on March 24 that he would be leaving the club. During his time at Liverpool, Salah played 442 matches and scored 257 goals. He is set to join Turkey’s Trabzonspor club after the 2025–26 season.
