At the BRICS Games Open World Hapkido Championship held in Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal’s Hapkido athlete Bandana Basnet secured the silver medal. Competing in the 49–53 kg weight category in the kyorugi discipline, she advanced all the way to the final match. In the final, she was defeated by a Russian competitor, according to Kali Bahadur Gharti Magar, President of the Nepal Hapkido Association. The event took place on October 8 in Kathmandu.
The competition was held from September 22 to 24 in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan. Bandana participated in the women’s 49–53 kg weight class kyorugi category, delivering an outstanding performance that took her through to the finals. Despite her loss to the Russian athlete in the final match, Bandana secured the silver medal, as confirmed by President Magar. Expressing satisfaction with Bandana’s performance and achievement, he stated that this success is a proud moment for Nepali Hapkido. He further emphasized that the participation and accomplishment of Nepali athletes in international competitions will further motivate the development and promotion of Hapkido in Nepal.
