At the 20th Asian Games badminton singles event, Nepal’s Rashila Maharjan, Rihanna Sherchan, and Kshitij Khanal were eliminated in the second round. In the women’s singles, Rashila was defeated in straight sets, 2–0, by China’s Wang Zhi Yi. Despite competing against a world-class opponent, Rashila was unable to advance to the next stage, losing 21-4 and 21-2. Similarly, Rihanna was defeated 2–0 by Sri Lanka’s WeiHena Liyanage Ranithma Thinudhi, losing 9-21 and 6-21 in the two sets.
In the men’s singles, Kshitij was beaten in straight sets 21-14 and 21-9 by Iran’s Nima Rostamporalagaldani. The Iranian player secured a 2–0 victory, advancing to the round of 16. With this result, Nepal’s participation in the Asian Games badminton singles event has concluded.
