US President Donald Trump has rejected the ceasefire proposal put forward by Iran. According to the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal, President Trump has expressed a complete refusal of Iran’s proposal. The report indicates that Trump is planning to resume airstrikes against Iran after the midterm elections.
This report emerged as Iranian officials sent a proposal to the US aimed at reducing tensions and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Friday, speaking to journalists at the United Nations headquarters, that the process to reopen the Strait of Hormuz will only move forward if the US fulfills the stipulated terms of the agreement.
Earlier this week, Trump threatened to devastate Iran, although he later described the exchanges between US envoy representatives and Iran as “good dialogue,” thus giving a somewhat more respectful tone to his prior threat.
