38th Jharana Running Shield Football Tournament to Begin from October 1, Winner to Receive NPR 400,000 Prize
The 38th Jharana Running Shield Knockout Football Tournament is scheduled to start on October 1 at the playground of Uma Basic School in Tilottama. The competition will feature 12 teams, with the winner receiving a cash prize of NPR 400,000 and the runner-up NPR 200,000. According to club president Dhanendra Paudel, the estimated budget for organizing the tournament is approximately NPR 2.8 million. (October 10, Butwal)
The tournament will take place at the Uma Basic School field located in Tilottama-6, Kunjalapur. Organizers have confirmed that 12 teams will participate. Cash prizes will be awarded not only to the winner and runner-up but also to outstanding players in various categories.
The entry fee for participating teams has been kept free, said former club president Lok Poon. The opening match will be contested between Lisnu Youth Club from Tilottama and Charange Youth Club from Devdaha. The tournament will run until October 12.
President Paudel stated that the total expenditure is projected to be around NPR 2.8 million. Of this, there is an opportunity to receive NPR 100,000 support from the local ward, while the remaining funds will be collected from local residents, sports enthusiasts, industrialists, and businesspersons. Financial assistance from Tilottama Municipality is also anticipated.
Paudel highlighted that the Jharana Running Shield tournament enjoys strong backing from local residents, sports lovers, and industrialists-businesspeople. He emphasized that the competition serves not only as a football event but also as an important platform for local player development, sports promotion, and youth engagement in sports activities.
The organizers are preparing to finalize necessary support and manage the playground and event logistics efficiently to ensure the tournament’s success. A press conference providing details about the competition was attended by local figure Sangita Gurung, former club president Chhatrabahadur Darlami, Padam Thapa, and representatives from various clubs.
