October 1, Kathmandu: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed satisfaction with Nepal’s preparations to co-host the 2027 U-19 Women’s World Cup. A team led by Gaurav Saxena, ICC’s General Manager of Events and Operations, recently visited Nepal to inspect the Matipur Cricket Ground and the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground.
After reviewing the pre-tournament preparations and arrangements, Saxena stated that the enthusiasm for cricket in Nepal is comparable to that in other countries worldwide. He emphasized that ICC is excited to host the U-19 Women’s World Cup in Nepal, remarking, “The passion for cricket in Nepal is no less than anywhere else in the world. This tournament will provide an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the beautiful country of Nepal and cricket. We are eager to deliver a successful and memorable event.”
Saxena highlighted that the inspection tour is a crucial part of ICC’s tournament planning and management, and the team is satisfied with the progress made so far. Detailed discussions have taken place regarding the infrastructure, operations, and other aspects necessary to make the tournament world-class. He thanked the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) for their continuous support and expressed confidence that ICC will work closely with CAN in the coming months to finalize the tournament preparations. Nepal is set to co-host the 2027 ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup alongside Bangladesh.
