12 Ashoj, Kathmandu – The ‘Chief of Army Staff Trophy’ event has been launched within the Nepalese Army. On Monday, Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel officially inaugurated the Chief of Army Staff Trophy 2083 at the sports ground in Lakhanhel. The primary objective of this trophy is to identify talented athletes within the Nepalese Army and to develop their skills, preparing them to compete at national and international levels. This trophy has been contested since 2065 BS.
The competition features eight sporting disciplines: athletics, swimming, boxing, taekwondo, volleyball, basketball, football, and judo. A total of 14 teams from the Army units and the women’s battalion participated. In the five-kilometer race held on Monday, Nirmala KC from the Mid-Eastern Battalion emerged as the winner in the women’s category, while soldier Arjun Budha from the Northwestern Battalion secured first place in the men’s category.
