October 1, Kathmandu – At the Asian Games judo competition, four Nepalese athletes were defeated in the initial rounds. In the women’s 52 kg weight category, Devaki Maya Shrestha was eliminated in the round of 16 by Vietnam’s Thi Ngan and was unable to secure a win through the repechage. Similarly, in the women’s 48 kg division, Nisha Shrestha also lost in the round of 16 to Hong Kong’s Wong Ka Lee.
In the men’s 66 kg category, Bishesh Bik was defeated by Hong Kong’s Wong Ka Ki in the round of 32 on the basis of a waza-ari score. Meanwhile, in the men’s 60 kg category, Vikas Bik was eliminated in the round of 16 by Uzbekistan’s Samiriddin Kuchkarov via ippon.
Looking ahead, Nepalese judokas Poonam Shrestha in the women’s 70 kg and Sujan Gurung in the men’s 90 kg categories will continue to compete in the tournament.
