October 8, Kyiv (RASS/AFP) – Following Russian drone attacks, transportation services on two major bridges over the Dnipro River in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv have been disrupted. The southern bridge has been completely closed to traffic in both directions, while the Paton Bridge remains open with only one lane operational, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced on Friday. The southern bridge was closed for assessment after Russian drones targeted its structure. Although transport and metro services had resumed, another attack on the bridge Thursday night forced it to close again, the mayor said. No attacks have been reported on the Paton Bridge, he added.
Meanwhile, emergency services reported that one person was killed and at least two others injured in an attack on a 25-story residential building located in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district. In recent months, Russian drone and missile attacks in Kyiv have increased significantly.
