
16 Ashwin, Kathmandu – Over 700 people have been arrested by police during protests in India demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Reports indicate that more than 700 arrests occurred specifically at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The Kakaroch Janata Party (CJP) initiated the protests today calling for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, following ongoing demonstrations by other established opposition parties.
The arrested include students and several opposition leaders. According to reports, AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, former minister Saurabh Bhardwaj, and other political figures were among those detained. Additionally, Manoj Jha, MP from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, was arrested at Jantar Mantar, along with Indian communist leader M.A. Baby.
