October 9, Kathmandu – US President Donald Trump has claimed that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for ending eight wars. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday, Trump stated that he was worthy of receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.
“No president has ever ended wars before. I ended eight wars and possibly saved the world from total destruction,” he said. “Therefore, I should be given the Nobel Peace Prize.”
The Norwegian Nobel Committee is scheduled to announce the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize this Friday. When asked about the prize, Trump said he had no knowledge about the committee’s decision. “Their reputation suggests that they probably wouldn’t award someone like me,” he added.
Since being re-elected for his second term as president, Trump has repeatedly asserted that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. During the Oval Office interview, he expressed optimism about his chances this time and mentioned that a previous Nobel Peace Prize laureate had claimed to be the most deserving person in history. “Indirectly through them, it feels like I have already received this honor,” Trump said.
Earlier, in January, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado had handed her 2025 Nobel Peace Prize medal to Trump. Since the beginning of his second term, Trump has claimed to have played a key role in ending various global conflicts, bolstering his case for the Nobel Peace Prize.
