Deuba-Koirala Faction Calls for Meeting of Former Central Committee Amid Intensifying Internal Dispute

March 21, Kathmandu – The internal conflict within the Nepali Congress is escalating. While the central working committee, elected through the special general convention, is meeting at the party headquarters in Sanepa, the Deuba-Koirala faction has decided to summon a meeting of the previous central committee. According to leader Min Bahadur Bishwakarma, a meeting of the party’s Performance Committee chaired by Purna Bahadur Khadka took place this morning. “The meeting under the leadership of Purna Bahadur Khadka has concluded. It decided to call a central working committee meeting soon,” he informed from Dhumbarai.
Khadka stated that after consulting with leaders, decisions will be made in a timely manner. He also noted that Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa and Vice President Bishwprakash Sharma will not be invited to the meeting. Previously, the committee led by Khadka had taken disciplinary action against them, so they will be excluded from the upcoming meeting.
This faction has filed a case in court opposing the party’s special general convention, and until a final decision is made, party activities will continue. Participants in today’s meeting included leaders Purna Bahadur Khadka, Shekhar Koirala, Shashank Koirala, Prakashman Singh, Bimalendra Nidhi, Vijay Gachhadar, Bal Krishna Kha, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minendra Rizal, Dhanraj Gurung, Jeevan Pariyar, and Badri Pandey.
