8 Chaitra, Kathmandu – The friendly football match between Nepal and Hong Kong, scheduled for this Thursday, Chaitra 12, has been postponed.
The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) confirmed the postponement of the international friendly match that was to be held at Dashrath Rangashala.
ANFA cited the lack of approval from the National Sports Council (Rakhap) as the reason for postponing the game. According to ANFA’s statement, “Approval to use the stadium and playing field for the friendly match was requested from Rakhap on Falgun 10, 2082. On Chaitra 3, 2082, a letter was sent to provide floodlights, scoreboard, and other necessary infrastructure. However, since Rakhap did not grant approval to use the stadium and the playing field or to hold the event, the match has been postponed.”
Rakhap Member Secretary Ramcharitra Mehta said the approval process is underway and will be completed shortly. “The process is ongoing, and we are prepared to give approval soon. We couldn’t grant approval by last Friday due to time constraints, but we are ready to do so today,” Mehta stated.
The controversy began when the guidelines from Rakhap, which prohibit organizing events without approval, were not followed. The technical committee had submitted the names of 26 Nepalese players to ANFA for the match against Hong Kong.
