March 23, Kathmandu – Nepal Police Club gained their first win in the Prime Minister’s Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament by securing a one-sided victory against APF Club.
In the match held on Tuesday at Mulpani Ground, Nepal Police defeated APF by 185 runs. After Police set a target of 356 runs, APF was bowled out for 170 runs in 44 overs.
Nandan Yadav remained unbeaten with 44 runs, while Kamal Singh Airy scored 35. Sandeep Zora contributed 24 runs and Asif Sheikh scored 18 before being dismissed. Captain Rohit Paudel was out after scoring 11 runs.
For Police, Lalit Rajwanshi took 3 wickets for 28 runs in 10 overs. Karan KC, Rashid Khan, and Dinesh Kharel each claimed 2 wickets, and Sagar Dhakal took 1 wicket.
Earlier, after losing the toss, Police batted first and scored 355 runs for 9 wickets in their 50 overs, marking the highest team total in PM Cup history.
This record was previously held by APF, which had scored 339 runs against Madhesh Province in the 2018 PM Cup. Police surpassed this record after eight years.
Four Police batsmen made half-centuries against APF. Openers Dinesh Kharel and Shankar Rana, captain Arif Sheikh, and Dilsad Ali all scored fifties.
Shankar top-scored with 61 runs, Dinesh Kharel made 60, and captain Arif scored 50. Dilsad Ali remained unbeaten on 51. Rashid Khan contributed 44 runs.
For APF, Kamal Singh Airy and Amar Singh Routel each took 2 wickets, while Nandan Yadav, Rohit Paudel, and Yuvraj Khatri took 1 wicket each.
Previously, Police had lost their first match against Army, while APF defeated Bagmati Province.
