Government Imposes Ban on Bridge Course Classes Starting April 14

The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has decided to impose a complete ban on the operation of bridge course classes starting from 1 Baisakh (April 14). The ministry stated that bridge courses negatively affect students’ psychology and education and also impose a financial burden. This decision has been taken ahead of the admission process for school-level and higher education, during the tenure of Education Minister Sasmita Pokharel. Dated 15 Chaitra, Kathmandu.

Bridge courses that were being conducted prior to the start of admission processes for various classes at the school level and different levels of higher education have now been halted. “Such programs appear to have negative impacts on students’ psychology and equitable access to education, and they may also place an unnecessary economic burden on students,” said the statement issued by the ministry. The ministry has confirmed that these classes will be fully discontinued from 1 Baisakh. This decision was taken after Sasmita Pokharel assumed the position of education minister.
