The police have released bodycam footage of Tiger Woods following a car accident last month in Florida. Woods faces allegations of driving under the influence, property damage, and refusal to undergo legal testing. He has been granted permission to travel abroad for medical treatment and has declined to captain the 2027 Ryder Cup team.
After the Florida car crash last month, the police released bodycam footage showing the 50-year-old professional golfer cooperating calmly with officers. Woods appears composed and cooperative in the video. The crash involved Woods colliding with a truck, which caused his vehicle to overturn. Authorities took him into custody and accused him of operating a vehicle under the influence of intoxicants.
Through his attorney, Woods has asserted his innocence. In the footage, he can be seen kneeling and stating that he “looked down at his phone when the collision unexpectedly occurred.” No injuries were reported from the incident, though Woods had to exit the vehicle from the side. While he passed a breathalyzer test, he refused further drug testing. Police noted that he was sweating heavily, had swollen eyes, and exhibited slowed movements.
Woods stated he had not consumed alcohol but did admit to using some medications. Later, hydrocodone, a painkiller, was found in his possession. A court has allowed Woods to travel overseas for treatment, and he has indicated that he will take some time away from golf to focus on his health. Meanwhile, he has also declined to serve as the captain for the 2027 Ryder Cup. Former golfer Nick Faldo emphasized that Woods must take responsibility for this serious incident and highlighted the need for both empathy and accountability.
