Dipak Adhikari Arrested for Extorting Money Claiming to Settle Banking Fraud Case

Dipak Adhikari, also known as Bishwaram, was arrested in Kathmandu for allegedly extorting NPR 130,000 on the pretext of settling a banking fraud case. He was apprehended by the Balaju Police Circle and is currently under investigation following a seven-day judicial remand granted by the Kathmandu District Court. The case in question involves defendant Dhruva Vikram Malla, with whom Adhikari claimed to negotiate the settlement in exchange for the money. (April 17, Kathmandu)
According to Sub-Inspector Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Office, Dipak Adhikari, a 52-year-old resident of Banasthali, Kathmandu, was caught while receiving money to resolve a registered banking fraud case at the police. He allegedly took NPR 130,000 from the defendant Dhruva Vikram Malla, promising to settle the case on his behalf. Following his arrest, the Kathmandu District Court authorized a 7-day remand to facilitate further investigation on charges of fraud.
