April 4, Kathmandu – Software engineers with artificial intelligence (AI) skills are earning up to 25 percent more compared to their peers, according to recent findings.
The Tech Salary Report 2026, released by manpower deployment firm NodeFlair, highlights that AI expertise is no longer just an additional qualification but a key factor driving attractive compensation in software engineering.
Analyzing over 230,000 verified salary data points across various markets and roles, the report found that engineers in Singapore earn pay premiums ranging from 13 to 25 percent, depending on their level of seniority.
NodeFlair attributes this significant salary gap not merely to standard software development skills but largely to the increasing demand for engineers capable of successfully applying AI tools in production environments.
The report notes that this AI-related salary boost is evident across all career stages, with more pronounced increases among experienced engineers. Consequently, professionals with extensive backgrounds in technology who add AI capabilities to their skillsets can realize substantial financial benefits.
Regarding this shift in the technology job market, NodeFlair founder Ethan Ang commented, “Being skilled in AI is no longer just an advantage; it has become a direct and tangible benefit that translates into salary increases.”
He explained that the widespread adoption of AI-assisted coding tools and agentic workflows has transformed the way engineering teams develop software, accelerating this change rapidly.
